Basildon Model Railway Club (BMRC) is a member of the Chiltern Model Railway Association and was founded in 1979.

During 1999 BMRC was fortunate to obtain it's own club house which is now suitably renovated for use and is convenient and centrally located in Basildon. BMRC would like to welcome all prospective new members to pay us a visit and sample a friendly evening with fellow enthusiasts. Please contact us on info@basildon-mrc.org.uk for details of how to find us.

Our club meets every Wednesday evening and it's members model in the following gauges:

Z
N
OO9 (narrow gauge)
HO
OO
O-16.5 (narrow gauge)

Some of the members layouts are portable and can or will have been seen at various exhibitions across the country. Some of these layouts are booked into future exhibitions. Club members all take part in assisting each other at exhibitions as well as arranging amongst ourselves trips to other exhibitions at which we are not exhibiting.

We also have our own annual model railway exhibition, which is held at the James Horsby School, Leinster Road off Nicholas Lane near Basildon, Essex. Our exhibitions are always held on the first full weekend of July. Further details of the exhibition can be found on our exhibitions page.

The club prides itself in trying to cater for every modeller, from the young to the old, able to not so able and weird to wonderful!

The club is happy to hear from enthusiasts with interests in gauges other than those mentioned above and also for modellers in non British origins. In fact we do already have a keen modeller with American interests and also, our twinning association with the 'Rail Club de Meaux' of France.

We have included on our website details of some members own layouts, some of which are available for exhibitions; to enquire about these layouts please contact the exhibition manager, details can be found on the contacts page.
